Roseville residents have a one-day opportunity to safely get rid of unused and expired medication at a Medication Take Back Day set for Saturday, April 28.
The county-wide event will be held at 11 locations in Roseville, Granite Bay, Rocklin, Lincoln, Loomis, Auburn and Tahoe City from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In Roseville, residents have their choice of dropping off medication at one of three locations: Oakmont, Roseville and Woodcreek high schools.
The process is simple: Empty medications from bottle into a plastic sack or bag, secure it and anonymously drop it off at one of the locations.
What's accepted?

- Over the counter medications
- Veterinary medications
- Controlled substances
What's not accepted?
- Illicit drugs
- Aerosols or hydrogen peroxide
- Sharps or lancets
- Medical waste
This free medication drop-off day is a collaborative effort between local law enforcement, water quality, and public health entities as well as local schools, the Coalition for Placer Youth, the Placer Youth Commission and the DEA.
