Sutter Health has plans to open a new shared services center in Roseville and with it will consolidate 1,000 office jobs, the Sacramento Business Journal reports.
The new center will house financial and hospital patient pre-services, billing and collections, registration and health information management, according to the SBJ.
The new Roseville center will occupy an almost 300,000-square-foot building located at 9100 Foothills Blvd. and plans to open in early 2013, according to the SBJ.
The Sacramento Business Journal broke the news Wednesday morning and shortly after, some reacted favorably to the news via social media.
On Twitter, Placer County District 4 Supervisor Kirk Uhler @kirkuhler wrote: "Woohoo! Sutter Health to bring 1,000 new administrative and support jobs to Roseville over the next 18 months!!!"
City of Roseville leaders also quickly reacted to the news.
"We’re thrilled. This brings new jobs, new revenues, and provides opportunities for other businesses and industry sectors, like retail and construction, to experience new growth as well,” said Roseville City Manager Ray Kerridge in a statement. “Our staff worked closely with SACTO, the brokers, and Quality Investment Properties, which bought the building last year, to help put together a deal that allows Sutter to continue its strong investment in the region.”
According to the City, the first 200-300 employees will move into the new facility in the first quarter of 2013. The rest of the employees will follow in phases, the City reports.
The new center was originally constructed by HP for its Roseville campus, but was vacant for years.
With this news of Sutter Health's new center, the City shared that Roseville's office vacancy rate from 25 percent to 20 percent.
