As one Mexican restaurant closes at the , another will fill its vacancy.
, which opened in the shopping center in 2009, has closed its doors.
In its place, which sits across from Dave and Busters, Zócalo will open this spring.
TRES management said they lost their lease at the Fountains center and released this statement, thanking customers:
“We want to thank all of our customers, fans, and especially employees for their support over the years. We regret that it’s happening, especially so close to the holidays, but it was beyond our control. We take some comfort in the fact that Zócalo is interested in giving TRES employees extra consideration when they begin their hiring process. We look forward to seeing our Sacramento friends and fans in San Francisco once the Giants open, if not before."
This will be Zócalo’s, second location. Its original restaurant is located on Capitol Avenue in midtown Sacramento.
While TRES’ specialty was on Jalisco cuisine, Zócalo is inspired by Mexico City’s town square and boasts flavors of regional Mexico, according to the restaurant’s website.
