80-Year-Old Woman Hit, Killed by Car

An elderly woman was hit by a car and killed while walking across Douglas Boulevard in Roseville Jan. 1.

An 80-year-old Roseville woman was killed Jan. 1 in a traffic collision. According to Roseville Police, just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, Evelyn Marion Montoya was walking across Douglas Boulevard at a mid-block location east of Sierra Gardens Drive, when she was hit by a car and killed.

She had already crossed the westbound lanes, and stepped off the center median onto eastbound Douglas Boulevard, into the path of a 2011 Hyundai coupe driven by a 30-year-old man from Folsom. The Hyundai driver had just turned onto eastbound Douglas from southbound Sierra Gardens Drive. 

According to Roseville Police, the driver said he didn't see the pedestrian in time, and his vehicle struck her.

Montoya was transported by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.  

Douglas Boulevard was closed in the vicinity of the collision for approximately 4 1/2 hours while investigators examined the scene.  The collision is being investigated by Roseville's Major Accident Investigation Team.
