City Appoints New Roseville Fire Chief

Marcus Reed will be Roseville's next fire chief. He will start next month with a salary of $172,605.

Roseville will soon have a new fire chief.

Roseville City Manager Ray Kerridge announced Friday his selection of Marcus Reed for the position.

Reed will start Feb. 6 with a salary of $172,605, according to the City of Roseville.

Reed previously served as Division Chief of the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue District in Oregon.

Currently, . He's served in that position since July 2011.

More than 100 people applied for the position.  The top three candidates came to Roseville for additional interviews in November. Sixteen representatives from the community, the city, and fire service were divided into three panels that evaluated candidates on technical expertise, community relations and outreach, and media relations.

“Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue has a reputation on the West Coast for being a progressive, creative fire district,” Kerridge said. “Chief Reed impressed our panels and has a strong track record of leadership and creativity.  I am looking forward to having him join our Roseville team.” 

Reed has been serving at the chief officer level for the past 11 years and has 29 years of experience in the fire service.
