A roundup of crime from the Roseville Police Department.

Eggs Thrown at Cars

At 3:16 a.m. Sunday morning, Oct. 23, officers responded to a fight at East Roseville Parkway and Douglas Blvd.  They contacted some young men in their late teens from Livermore, who admitted they had been throwing eggs at cars on Douglas Blvd.  The occupants of one of the egged vehicles stopped and confronted them, and a fight ensued.  One of the Livermore residents went to the emergency room with a possible broken nose. He wasn't interested in pursuing assault charges. Officers weren't able to locate the other involved group.  The next morning, police received possibly related calls about several vehicles that had been egged in the 400 block of Loretto Drive and the 1500 block of Crestmont Avenue.

At 11 p.m. on Oct. 20, a citizen heard glass breaking in a small business complex in the 900 block of Douglas.  Officers responded and found that a restaurant and shoe repair store had been broken into, and cash taken from the cash registers.  Officers located a suspect, a 31-year-old male Roseville resident, walking near Roseville Square, and arrested him on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy.  Officers recovered currency and small change taken from the businesses.   Charges are pending against a second suspect.

Stolen Vehicles Located

Officers located two stolen vehicles parked in the vicinity of Kent Place and Sierra Gardens Drive over the past week. Both vehicles had been stolen from the north Sacramento area.

Catalytic Converter Thefts

Sometime overnight Oct. 13/14, someone stole a catalytic converter from a Toyota pickup parked on Condor Court.

Sometime overnight Oct. 21/22, someone stole three catalytic converters and a set of wheels and tires from cars parked in a business parking lot in the 1200 block of Plumber Drive.

Roseville Police have reportedly seen an increase in metal thefts, including catalytic converters and copper pipes and wires, over the past several weeks. Catalytic converter thieves prefer Toyota pickups and SUVs.  If you own one, the safest place to park it at night is your locked garage. If that's not possible, you might want to talk to a mechanic about ways to better secure the device to your truck.  Call police right away if you see anyone looking underneath or otherwise messing around parked vehicles.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

At about 7 p.m. on Oct. 21, officers responded to a report of suspicious activity on Coronado Street and Mariposa Avenue.  A male had parked a white Chrysler sedan and wiped the interior down, as if to wipe away fingerprints.  Officers responded, and the suspicious man fled on foot.  Officers recovered the Chrysler, which had been reported stolen from Rocklin.  Officers searched the area with the help of a Placer County Sheriff's K9 team, but haven't yet been able to locate the suspect.

Interrupted Vehicle Burglary on Vernon Street

At noon on Oct. 19, a citizen went to his car, which was parked on the second story of the Vernon Street parking garage, and saw a male sitting in the passenger seat of his car. The suspect jumped into a waiting car and fled.  The suspects' car was described as a small white 2-door SUV, possibly a Toyota.  One of the suspects was an Asian male, about 25 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall with a sturdy build, with black hair in a crew-cut style.  The driver of the suspect car was also described as an Asian male, about 25, with a crew-cut.  The suspects smashed the victim's car window and tried to pry the stereo, but didn't take anything.  The case is under investigation.
