Trio Arrested: Purchased, Returned Jewelry With Fake Credit Cards

On the evening of Sept. 24, officers arrested three grand theft suspects after a short foot pursuit in the Westfield Galleria at Roseville. The three are suspected of using fake IDs and fake credit cards to purchase large amounts of jewelry from area jewelry stores over the past week.  Arrested were a 24-year-old male from Sacramento, a 25-year-old male from Carmichael, and a 31-year-old female from Sacramento.  Several items of fraudulently purchased jewelry were returned to jewelry stores.

Police are searching for someone driving a gold or champagne-colored early 2000s model Chevy Suburban, which should have some front end damage, believed to be involved in a hit and run. At 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 24, officers responded to a hit and run collision with injuries on southbound Sierra College Boulevard at Secret Ravine Parkway. One of the parties fled the scene in a gold or champagne-colored Chevy Suburban.

Residents and officers are continuing to be watchful in the area of Junction Elementary due to . Officers have been providing extra patrol around the school in the mornings and afternoons.  There is no further information about potential suspects.

Copper Thefts

Sometime overnight on Sept. 22/23, someone removed the ground-level cement covers from light poles at the Maidu soccer fields and stripped the copper wire out of them, making the lights inoperative. According to Roseville Police, there is a lot of copper wire theft going on throughout the whole region. If you see anyone messing around with utility access points, call 911.  Get a good description of the person and their vehicle if possible, including a license-plate number.

Commercial Burglaries

Sometime on Sept. 25 or early Sept. 26, someone burglarized a weight loss business in the 1800 block of Douglas Boulevard next to Sierra Gardens Drive, by forcing open a back door.  A small amount of cash was taken from the cash drawer. Also, at 2:23 a.m. on Sept. 26, officers responded to an alarm at a restaurant in the 1800 block of Douglas Boulevard, and found that it had just been burglarized.  The cash register and safe had been disturbed, but nothing appeared to be missing. Entry was made through a back door.

Sometime on Sept. 21, someone entered The Victorian special-event venue in the 300 block of Main Street, took antiques and photographs, and did extensive malicious vandalism inside the house.  This is the third time the historic building has been burglarized and damaged this month.   Residents in the area are asked to keep an eye out and call 911 immediately to report any trespassers or other suspicious activity.

Between 5:50 p.m. on September 23 and 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 24, the snack shop at Woodcreek High School was broken into.  Cases of drinks, hotdogs, barbeque tools and condiments were taken.  This is the second Friday night burglary of the snack shop this month.

Arrests Made on Suspicion of Heroin Sales

In the early morning hours of Sept. 24, an officer on routine patrol investigated possible drug activity in the area of Douglas and Harding boulevards, and arrested four people on suspicion of heroin sales or possession: 19- and 20-year-old Roseville men, and a 20- and a 27-year-old, both from Antelope.

Thursday, Sept. 15

On Sept. 15, a home in the 1000 block of Porthill Drive was burglarized, and a detached storage building was ransacked.  Jewerly, a laptop, an electronic violin and small electronic items were taken from the house. It's unknown how the burglar got in, and there are no suspects.

Monday, Sept. 19

Between 8:30 a.m. and noon on Sept. 19, someone broke into a house in the 1400 block of Kaseberg Court, possibly through a rear sliding door. Items had been moved around, both in the house and an outside shed, but nothing was taken.

Tuesday, Sept. 20

Between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sept. 20, someone burglarized a house in the 2000 block of Starboard Way.  It appeared that someone used patio furniture to climb over the fence from an adjacent neighbor's yard on Portside Circle, then entered through a sliding glass door.  A messenger bag containing a video game console and cell phone, an e-reader, jewelry and other small items were taken.

Wednesday, Sept. 21

Sometime Sept. 21/22, someone kicked the front door of a house in the 200 block of Donner while the resident was away and rummaged through the house, taking a net book computer.

Friday, Sept. 23 

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 and 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 24, someone broke into a house in the 2600 block of Du Pont Way while the owner was away, and stole items (unknown what at this time). Entry was possibly made through an unlocked bedroom window.

Sometime between 9 p.m. on Sept. 23 and 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 24, someone burglarized an apartment in the 1100 block of Conroy Lane, entering through a window.  Nothing appeared to have been taken.

Between 9:10 a.m. and 10:55 a.m. on Sept. 23, someone threw a rock through a back window of a house in the 1700 block of San Antonio Lane, entered and rummaged through the house, taking a laptop, golf clubs and jewelry.

Saturday, Sept. 24

Sometime in the middle of the night of Sept. 24/25, someone kicked open the door of a house in the 1400 block of Greenborough.  The residents were home and remembered hearing a banging noise in the middle of the night. Nothing was taken and there was no sign anyone had come into the house.

Sunday, Sept. 25

Sometime overnight on Sept. 25/26, someone tried to enter a home in the 3300 block of Chapelle Drive by prying a dog-door. Fortunately the owner had secured the dog door by inserting a sheet of metal into the slots, and the burglar was unable to get in. Police say this is a great burglary prevention technique for residents with larger pet doors.

Sometime overnight on Sept. 25/26 in the 2300 block of North Cirby Way, someone forced their way through a locked garage side door, and took bicycles and tools from the garage. According to police, since garages are a popular point of entry for burglars, it is recommended that garage side doors be heavy-duty and locked with a deadbolt-type lock.
