Poll: Do We Need Another Dog Park in Roseville?

Last week, Roseville City Council approved a site in west Roseville for another dog park. Do you think we need another off-leash dog park in the city?

A site was in west Roseville at the price tag of between $100,000 and $450,000, according to city staff.

When we shared the news of the , we had some readers share excitement, while others said the price tag was steep and another dog park wasn't necessary. Where do you stand on this issue?

Currently, there are three dog parks in Roseville: , and , which includes a fenced-in dog park.

The fenced-in, off-leash dog park site is walking distance from many residents in developments off Fiddyment Road and WestPark neighborhoods in west Roseville.

Funding for this proposed park will come from the City-Wide Park Fund, as this dog park will be a city park, not a neighborhood park, Roseville Senior Landscape Architect Tara Gee said. The General Fund would cover maintenance funds, which could amount to about $10,000 a year, according to city documents.

What do you think? Do we need another dog park in Roseville? Feel free to weigh in below.

So whatever happened to the dog area planned for Saugstad Park? Until East Roseville gets an all-weather dog park, I oppose any dog park in the western part.

Fully support one. Developer funds are paying for a park no matter what, might as well put it towards a high use one. And this is all part of smart growth. Denser housing means smaller lot sizes. People need the parks to replace their lack of yard space.

If the dog owners would take their dogs to the dog park, I'd support it. Dogs are supposed to be prohibited in most parks, but people don't pay attention to the rules and the park rangers either don't care or there aren't enough of them to enforce the rules. I've seen some pretty aggressive dogs at Kaseberg park and I've seen the dog owners get in arguments with other dog owners. It's illegal to have any dogs at Kaseberg, but I see them all the time. I also see where a lot of dogs use the sidewalk or neighbors lawns as toilets in the Kaseberg neighborhood..you really need to be careful when you take a walk around there. So, yes, have another dog park, but enforce the rules at the other parks.
