Are Roseville's Farmers Markets the Best in the Country?

Nationwide contest runs until Sept. 3.

A couple Roseville farmers markets are in the running for a nation-wide contest in search of the favorite farmers markets. And if you think they're pretty great, cast your vote.

American Farmland Trust, a non-profit group focused on conserving agricultural land, is running its fourth annual America's Favorite Farmers Markets contest this summer.

The contest asks shoppers to vote for the farmers market they like best from a list of more than 7,000 proved by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. (Roseville has multiple markets on the list.)

Voting ends at midnight on Sept. 3 and winners will be chosen in each of four categories: small, medium, mid-size and large. American Farmland Trust will throw a party for each of the winning markets.

There's also an essay contest in which farmers can write about why participating in markets is important to them, for a chance to win $1,000.

Roseville farmers markets in the running include and Roseville Kaiser Permanente Farmers Market.

So how about it, Roseville? Should cities nationwide bow to our farmers market excellence, or what? Click here to vote, and share your thoughts in the comments.

You got to be kidding if you think that Dinio's farmers market is for real! The Kaiser farmers market is the real thing. You can talk to the farmers who grew the produce at the Kaiser Farmers market!!!!

Most of the farmers markets around here are very small. I like the one by Whole Foods...but it is very small. Denios is okay, except that sometimes the quality isn't so good. But nice variety. I thought the Farmer's market at Kaiser was quite small. But I like the popcorn there.
